John Rivera, MEd
Founder & President
John Rivera is a veteran of the US Navy and the US Army National Guard. He has deployed several times in support of Operations Southern Watch, Vigilant Mariner, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and a Master’s Degree in Nutrition Education.
During graduate school, the Institute for Responsible Nutrition selected John to be an Ambassador based on his unique perspective on public health & nutrition issues within low income communities. This particular work is featured on johnonjuan.org, his personal blog.
In 2014, John founded Primal Platoon, Inc with the philosophy that, “know-how” isn’t enough for service members to remain healthy & fit. According to John, to improve the health & fitness state within the military, there is a NEED for empowerment, wellness education, and a culture of care.
He and the Primal Platoon™ Team are committed to changing the way Veterans and service members think about wellness.
Steve is an Operation Enduring Freedom Veteran and avid leadership and transition psychology change agent. He is the founder of the internationally recognized “Tough Ruck” program and is heavily involved in veteran focused philanthropy.
He holds a Bachelor’s from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and an MBA from Fitchburg State University. He’s currently working on a Doctorate of Psychology with a specialization in leadership and veteran transition.
Steve is a dedicated family man with a deep passion for complete physical and mental wellness. Through the vision and the learning strategies of Primal Platoon™, Steve and the rest of the Primal Platoon™ family will continue the tenacious task of changing the current ideologies clouded around the term “wellness.”
